Shan Muir is a healer and practitioner of elven white magic from Liannon.
Biography
Pre Battle for Fiara
Shan is a daughter of the Muirs, a once-renowned family that lived close to the village of Liannon. Though not much is known of the influence they had on the land, one of their daughters, Shan's sister, Lea Muir was bespoken to be of such beauty that the Goddess Elen gifted her a ring, the Pledge of the Gods, because of it.
This attracted the attention of a powerful mage who sought the ring's power to fuel his ambitions - althewhile not knowing that the ring held no true power of its own. Shan and Lea's father promised Lea to this mage, however, as Lea was deeply in love with a man named Amra, she gifted him the ring before her marriage, an act that deeply upset the Dark One, prompting him to kill Lea and the rest of her family in retaliation. It isn't known how, but Shan managed to escape this fate - possibly by being absent due to her studying the art of elven white magic.
Battle for Fiara
In the years that followed, Shan became known as a skilled healer and potion maker. A knowledgable woman capable of mending even the deepest wounds and curing the most vile poisons - something quite rare for a human.
During the Battle for Fiara, she was visited by the Phoenix Bearer on her quest to find a cure for Lord Commander Tynar, leader of House Utran who was on his deathbed, poisoned by his enemies using a substance called the Black Kiss. Shan recognised the symptoms and provided the Rune Warrior with a cure, playing a pivotal role in liberating the lands of the Shiel.
Amra and Lea
Once more, her assistance would be needed during the Phoenix Bearer's search for Amra's legendary armour. As Shan was Lea's sister, she could point the rune warrior to her old house, remarking that other, dubious men have also sought it out, looking for that very same armour. Furthermore, she told the Phoenix Bearer of her sister's final resting place in Whisper, allowing the rune warrior to advance her search.
The Sick Hermit
Their paths would meet one last time during the case of a sick hermit from the outskirts of Greyfell, a murderer whom Shan would outright refuse to help by giving him the Zirfar potion - a concoction that could rid him of his pain. Though she was a healer, she refused as the sick man was a murderer, only held back by his suffering. Instead, she offered to provide him with a potion that would lessen his pain and advised the Phoenix Bearer to seek out Illirias of House Utran, should she still desire the potion she originally came for.
Trivia
- Due to Lea's ghost model in SF1 being an elven ghost, many believe that Shan herself is also an elf rather than a human. However, this is highly unlikely as it would make little sense in her lore, combined with the fact that Shan herself has a human character model. The likely reason for Lea's elven model is that there are no female human ghost models in SF1, prompting the developers to use an elven one instead.
