Falkmar

Falkmar is the son of Baron Ortbrandt of Norimar and a knight in the service of the Highmark. A young man with a strong sense of duty, Falkmar is often seen putting the interests of the Kingdom first, even at the cost of others. As he is seen wearing their armour, he is likely a member of the Iron Falcons like his father.

Shadow Wars

The Soul Carrier first encounters Falkmar in Norimar where his father, Baron Ortbrandt, orders him to accompany the Shaikan to the court of the king in Sevenkeeps. Though reluctant, Falkmar takes on the role of caravan leader as they prepare to send supplies Lyraine in Rushwater Downs which is currently under siege by Orcs.

During this venture, Falkmar often appears to be hotheaded, but brave. He often urgest the Shaikan to push onwards despite the risks involved in order to save time.

Once the group arrives at the court of King Ulf, Falkmar finally reveals his two-facedness by refusing to speak in favour of the Shaikan and their goal to gather support for their homenalds, instead choosing to save face and side with the King. The Shikan see this as betrayal and an argument errupts but is quickly defused.

Rescue for the Iron Fields

Falkmar reappears some time later during the Realm's attack on Shaikur. After a successful recapture of the fortress, he, once again, takes a stance opposing the Shaikan and refuses to lead the armies of the Realm towards Dragh'Lur, as he believes this to be a senseless campaign with no hope for victory. After a heated argument, their paths separated and he likely returned to either Sevenkeeps or his home in Norimar.

Dragon Storm

Falkmar's whereabouts in the time between the Shadow Wars and Dragon Storm aren't clear. He is seen once again years later, locked up inside a dungeon below King Ulf's royal palace.

The reason for his imprisonment isn't clear, however, should he be freed by the Shaikan, he will immediately attack them and consequently be slain. Thus, it can be assumed that he either turned into a power hungry fanatic or became influenced by the Shaper like many others in the kingdom, leading to his demise.

Trivia

  • Freeing Falkmar in SpellForce 2: Dragon Storm is optional, which means that he is able to live through the events of the game should the player choose to not interact with him.
