‘ On Willow Winter Day, the disc of the sun will cover Aonir's star. Then he must sacrifice her to achieve his plan. ‘
~ Elune to Shadow Warrior
The Aryn Crisis was a global catastrophe which took place around 10 A.C afterthe Battle of Fiara and was part of the Rune Wars. The ice dragon Aryn awoke from his slumber and was preparing to fly and freeze the world once more but thankfully he was stopped by a rune warrior known as the Shadow Warrior.
Prelude
In the distant past a white dragon was born by the name of Aryn whose unique physiology proved a danger to the world of Eo, This particular dragon was capable of decreasing the temperature of any environment that he resided, to the point of freezing, by his mere presence. Just as he was about to freeze the entire planet one of the five rulers of the elves, Queen Cenwen, saw the pain and loneliness of the creature and offered to be his eternal companion on the condition that he would leave her people alone. The dragon not only agreed but also granted his powers to Cenwen's clan, who would become the first Ice Elves. For thousands of years, the duo would peacefully and happily await the end of time in Aryn's sealed cave in the mountains.
Gathering Darkness
After the War of the Six Races the renegade gods' armies led by the Fial Darg were defeated and the princes of darkness were sealed away by the Guardians. An elite order of warriors known as the Iron Falcons were founded whose sole purpose to prevent the seals from weakening. However, as time went on their influence was diminished and most if not all of them perished during the Convocation alongside the seals they were meant to protect.
Disorder
One of these freed Fial Darg decided to perform a ritual which would free its Renegade patrons however the ritual required the blood of a firstborn, humanoid descendants of the Shapers who still retained the genetic material of their ancestors, and the only one available was Cenwen. The creature wove a spell that numbed Aryn's senses and amidst the confusion he abducted Cenwen and arranged her to be transported into the Crimson Empire's territory whom it had recruited as minions. When Aryn came back to his senses, he noticed his companion's disappearance and after roaring in anger departed to search for her.
Deception
Unfortunately for the prince of darkness he was soon captured by the vengeful ice elves who placed him in a shard of ice and interrogated him albeit to no avail. Somehow the creature, probably telepathically, contacted his servant among the Mirraw Thur Resistance, Grim, and commanded him to free him which he successfully did by tricking the future Shadow Warrior and his fellow resistance fighters into attacking the Winterguard camp. After the revelation of what hap transpired was revealed the Shadow Warrior escorted the Resistance to Tirganach and together with the Winterguard's priestesses Lena came up with a plan to rescue Cenwen.
Urgath in Flames
The Crimson Empire's capital city Shal'Dun had powerful magical defenses and not even the Winterguard could directly provoke them. The Shadow Warrior departed to Fastholme in search of a solution.
The dwarven mages there were holding a secret art - the Firebane - which would grant an immense resistance against the blazing heat of Shal'Dun's sun towers. After he was able to convince elder Windjalf to handing over the Firebane to him, the rune warrior conquered both the Nevershade Frontier as well as Shal'Dun. The traitor Grim was found in the center of the city and killed but not before revealing his master's only weakness under torture by his former lover Lena: The Shadowblade.
Gaze of the Abyss
The Shadow Warrior successfully acquired the legendary blade from the Fireangel of the Firefangs and soon departed to the Abyss, where Cenwen was being held. The warrior overcame every Soulfire barriers blocking his path inside the Abyss and entirely annihilated the Crimson Empire's garrison inside. The ice queen was freed and the prince of darkness was slain but Lena lost her life during the confrontation.
Calming the Frostweaver
Although the Fial Darg was dead his spell still clouded Aryn's mind. With help from the dwarves of Fastholme the rune warrior unearthed some fire crystals to fight back the harsh coldness emitted by the Frostweaver but nonetheless the battle that took place in Frostweaver Rift was nothing short of legendary.
In the end the dragon was weakened enough and Cenwen's singing reached his mind. He understood that his life-long companion had finally returned and together they finally returned home. The Aryn Crisis had come to an end and Eo was spared another ice age.
