Intro
Golgalath was a devourer summoned by Sorvina to help the Pact storm Shaikur in the Iron Fields and to defeat Ur. His resistance to fire was an immense advantage in his battle against the dragon, who was defeated.
He sided with Sorvina because she promised him a feast to satisfy his hunger in exchange of his help. Four Shaikans were given to Golgalath as a price, one of them being Kolar.
Golgalath later confronted the Soul Carrier who sought revenge and the devourer perished in their confrontation, after telling the Shaikan that Sorvina brought Ur to Shal.
Trivia
- It is possible that devourers were planned to be demons during SpellForce 2: Shadow Wars development, as Golgalath is coded with the race Demon instead of Dragon, later changed for the other devourer units in free game mode.
As such, Golgalath can be dealt more damage by weapons with the Judgement ability. - Most internal dialogue and quest names in the code refers to Golgalath as "hydra", only a few as "devourer".
- Despite being shown with an immunity to Ur's fire breath, Golgalath only has a resistance to it in game.
- You may be unable to loot the corpse of Golgalath once defeated. This is probably because there are 4 hidden Nightmares flying over Golgalath.
- If you reach Golgalath before cleaning Shaikur of the Pact forces, nothing will happen. There could be shadow units hidden in the fortress to defeat first.
