You would be forgiven to think that the races of light only fight against the forces of darkness, but that isn't the case. During the old times, when the elves first conquered Tirganach, there was a war- a war between elves and dwarves, light against light, and it took place in the valleys of Winterdeep.
It was a senseless conflict, a battle for territory and old grudges. They fought long, so long that the purpose of the battle was eventually forgotten, and only blind hate drove them against each other. It wasn't until Garvyn and Rogras, the leaders of their armies, fell that it all came to an end. Since those days, the dwarves of Fastholme and elves of Tirganach have been sending priests and warriors to this place to watch over the sleep of the fallen and to remind themselves of the tragedy that once took place.
