The losses the Dwarves had to endure during the War of the Six Races had been high – though they were virtually unmatched in close combat, the sinister magic of the dark ones cut deep through their ranks. To mend this flaw, their elder had decided that the people of Niethalf must be able to protect themselves from afar. Their small stature may not allow them the use of longbows, but their immense strength is a perfect match for the heavy bolts of crossbows. So, the hardworking smiths of the dwarves worked for months until their work had been complete, and not even the strongest armour managed to withstand their crossbows of iron. Equipped with new tools, the dwarves steadily protect their riches and their home – often to the dismay of those seeking the ancient wisdom of their race.
