Griffon

The story of the griffons began hundreds of years in the past, when the Humans still inhabited the caves of the Windwall mountains, hiding from the mighty Dragons. The giant lizards hunted the birds for food and, over time, severly culled their numbers. Faced with a common foe, the Humans took the Griffons in, they nourished them back to health, and for that, the majestic creatures swore them loyalty. It was this bond that, ultimately, allowed the Humans to rise against the Dragons. The most adept warriors of the humans faced them atop the wings of their new allies. Using their cunning, they won battle after battle until the Dragons had been driven off of Fiara, and a new era ushered in. This friendship between Human and Griffon still exists today. Only a few chosen are capable of taming these free-spirited creatures, but those that do soon ascend to legend, being renowned as the finest warriors of their people.
