Lore

  • As the restless hordes of Trolls devastated the armies of the light with their enormous clubs, the Dwarves realised that strength alone may not be enough to strike fear into the heart of every foe. Their willpower allowed them to withstand the might of the Troll, yet their slowness often sealed their fate. They were in dire need of riders, much like the paladins of the Humans, however, their short bodies did not allow them to take hold of tall stallions. And so, their Thanes and King decided to use moles to fulfil that purpose. They lured them from their holes and tamed them for their warriors to reign supreme on the battlefield. Thus, the Dwarves soon had a cavalry. On the backs of these creatures, they managed to avoid their opponent’s attacks and strike them from behind. Their new allies played a pivotal role in deciding many battles in favour of the light, but the privilege of riding them had ever only been entrusted to few - for the number of these curious beings is small, and each loss a grave defeat.
