Game version

By default, the Steam and GOG version of the game it's the SpellForce 2: Anniversary Edition.

Since the more stable version to date it's the Gold edition, I recomend you to take a look at the following video:

Now let's get on the subject at hand: The Coins in Spellforce 2.

While you play each campaign, you will find diferent types of coins: One Star, Two Stars, Three Stars and Skull Coins.

SpellForce 2 : Shadow Wars

Speaking about Spellforce 2: Shadow Wars, this coins are to used to open 13 locked chests located in the middle of The Crater map, near a few lizard nests and the Mad Magician's ghost that will attack you when you go near the chests.

The Crater - Locked Chests

When you reach them, you probably already have some required coins (and you can open some of the chests), but I recomend you to wait until you have at least ALL star coins before you unlock them.

You should have collect them all by the end of this map,

right before going down into the crater to fight Naugron.

With the Star coin chests, use the highest coins first (1 star coins can open a 3 star chest, but a 3 star coin cannot open a 1 star chest, get it?).

If a chest has 5 locks, use a 3 and 2 star coin up first.

There are, however, 3 brown chests to the right side that require 5 Skull Coins each to unlock. Only open any of them if you already have the necessary coins.

You will have to return for rest later.

1		Sevenkeeps Chest, south-southwest of the Portal to Westguard, near the city moat
2		Sevenkeeps Thief Lemuel, as reward for warning him about the Militia's plans to arrest him

2		Sevenkeeps High Priest Alastar, for completing the third task for the Priests' Guild
3		Sevenkeeps This is a tricky one because you MUST be doing the quest Among Thieves so that you are in possession of the Claw of Pickpocketry so that you can steal the coin from Hagard AND you must do it before...  you confront him and he turns hostile.
4		The Needle Haemator, in the ruins in the Southeast

11		The Crater From Grozira's dead body, the level 30 invincible dinosaur roaming around

13		Dragh'Lur From The Mute's dead body. He can be found on the higher levels of the Fortress, behind the tower wall
14		Shal Chest on the right in the room where the Merchant Zar'Sharach sells high level items. All levers MUST be turned to the Right to open the Chest.

Spellforce 2: Dragon Storm

Skull Coins are the only special coins that can be found in SpellForce 2: Dragon Storm and that you will need later.

These coins can be used to open the 3 chests in the Southwest of The Refuge, next to the Mosaic of Death.

2		Alluvyan Chest on a ledge directly West of the city, after killing a pack of wolves nearby
3		Alluvyan Inner city, through the East gates, Chest to the North from the orc Kulkar and the Eastern Clan Camp
4		Sevenkeeps Chest at the end of the small path, West from the Arcanum of the Magicians.
5		Sevenkeeps East from the Spider Lair Journey Stone. Chest in the field, next to a bear across the bridge, after a partially destroyed house (where later you'll find Marcia's ghost).
6		Sevenkeeps South from the Temple District, at the cemetery, West from the Altar of Life.
7		Dragh'Lur Eastern swamp area, Chest under a tree, SouthEast from the Dracon Hunter
8		Dragh'Lur Hidden Chest behind a broken down ruin, North from the Southeast Journey Stone
9		The Citadel Outside of the South entrance to the Northern camp of the Clan, in a chest .
10		The Citadel Chest, West from the large Realm camp's headquarters and the Ether Journey Spell into the Library.
